I'm sharing my go-to everyday makeup routine below. Favorite products and how I use them. Let me know if you have any questions! xoxo, Meredith
A few Fridays ago I had the pleasure of attending the Beauty & Bloggers event at 40 Volume Salon & Spa. It was such a fun night and I enjoyed hanging out with my "blogger" friends and meeting some new people from the area. Several of the ladies are some of my close friends anyway! 5D Photography photographed the event and did a beautiful job, so I'll be sharing those photos below. As most of you know, Tyler Lively at 40 Volume is my hair stylist, so I'm a huge fan of the salon in general. The music was perfection (Will Smith DJ was amazing and I sort of want to throw my own party just so I can book him. I love rap music and he played the good stuff - not cookie cutter shit). Honestly I wish the party could have lasted until midnight because we could have danced the night away.... but then I would have been hungover on Saturday so it's probably best that the party ended around 9 and then several of us went to dinner after at Cuoco Pazzo.
Many thanks to all of the wonderful vendors who showed out and treated us like the VIPs we are! . It's been a while since I've had to source food, drink & DJ vendors but if you are planning a wedding or party soon - all of these vendors did a great job. My skirt is c/o Three Sisters Boutique - shop online here. I'm always obsessed with a clothing staple that can be worn so many ways so this one definitely fits the bill.
For Saturday night out & about Downtown Sav, I stuck with neutral colors but added a few extra products to take my everyday routine up a notch and make it a bit more glam. I really prefer to focus on having clear & glowy skin, with neutral eye colors, bronzy-peach blush & a neutral lip as well. At the bottom of the post I have linked every single product I used! I know I keep promising a makeup video tutorial - and I really hope to have that up soon. Do you use any of these products? What are some of your personal favorites that you swear by?

Hi guys! I thought it would be fun to share the beauty essential products that I'm always repurchasing. With SO many new products always coming out, I do like to sample new things but of course there are staples that I always keep on hand. What are some of the items you always repurchase? I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT Mac Prep + Prime in Light Boost (used as a highlighter) and a clean white nail polish never goes out of style. I've been using St. Tropez products for over 5 years and they are always a go-to for a great self-tan. Scroll through the products via the arrows at the end of the post to shop all of my favs.... there are several products you can get at Target or the drug store (that won't break the bank).
I always get tons of questions about what makeup products I use, but honestly good makeup starts with good skin. My first year in college I did a research project on skin cancer and learned so much about the effects of sun damage to your skin. Ever since then, I've been passionate about taking care of my skin! I've been an avid self-tanner for years and I ALWAYS wear sunscreen on my face, neck and hands, daily. I'm going to share my current skin care routine with you and link all of the products at the end of the post. Click the links to shop the items & get them shipped right to you. :-)
My morning routine consists of 5 steps, plus a 6th step that I do throughout the day. First I start with Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash. I love this gel cleanser because it also has tiny exfoliating rounds in it. It's gentle enough to use everyday but great for scrubbing my oily skin & pores. Second, I apply Skinceuticals Equalizing Toner with a cotton ball. This toner is pore refining and great for combination or oily skin. Next I apply Skinceuticals Eye Cream under my eyes & up to the brow bone in a boomerang shape. Follow that with applying a few drops of Obagi Professional-C Serum to my face, neck, and décolleté. This Vitamin-C serum is full of antioxidants to protect your skin from free radicals before they have a change to damage your skin cells and accelerate aging. After I let the serum soak in for a few minutes, I apply Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 30 to my face, neck, hands, etc. I spritz Mario Badescu Rosewater Facial Spray on throughout the day when I want a bit of a refresher or pick-me-up.
I always start my P.M routine by removing my makeup with Neutrogena Wipes. These are so economical and are truly the best. Steps 2-4 are the same as the morning routine - face wash, toner, eye cream. Step 5 I like to apply a Retinol cream. Skinceuticals Retinol 1.0 is proven to diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin discoloration while minimizing breakouts and the appearance of pores. (Note: You need to start with a lower dose of Retinol before moving up to the 1.0. Skinceuticals has a 0.5 version for starters). After letting the Retinol set in, I apply Skinceuticals Renew Overnight Oily cream. As you can tell, I'm a big fan of Skinceuticals products. Not only do they make high quality, science-backed products, they are also made in the US.
I like to indulge myself (shocker) at least once a week with a face mask. Flora-py makes an assortment with different ingredients/scents for certain results. I love the Detox & Stress Relief masks. If you follow me on Snapchat, you've probably seen me wearing these masks before. Leave them on for 15-20 minutes for a glowing effect. Lastly, I like to use M-61 PowerGlow Peel pads 1-2 times a week. I think you're actually supposed to be able to use them daily if you want. The treatment pads are full of glycolic and salicylic acid to exfoliate, Vitamin K to help with discoloration and chamomile to calm the skin.
What are some of you favorite skin care products that you swear by? Everything is linked below - or if you prefer to shop in person, I know the majority of these products can be purchased at Blue Mercury on Broughton St. (You can get Neutrogena wipes at Target and Obagi Vitamin-C Serum from Gaughf Dermatology).
Ladies, I’m so excited to be sharing this post with you….. tonight I’m discussing the SWEETEST boutique & hair removal salon in Savannah - Southern Sugaring! Located on Chippewa Square (my personal favorite since that’s where I walked my dogs when we lived downtown in 2013), this gorgeous salon is the epitome of chic hair removal.
I first tried sugaring last August and I’ve been getting the Brazilian Bikini Sugaring every three weeks since then. I have a bad track record with razors in that particular region and religiously suffered from razor bumps & ingrown hairs. I tried waxing in 2012 but still got the ingrowns.
Needless to say when I heard about Southern Sugaring from one of my best friends Kate, I knew I had to try it out. Southern Sugaring is owned by Jessica Mock, who is totally amazing and a #girlboss inspiration. I’ve been getting sugared by her Sugarista Apprentice, Mandy. From the very first appointment, Mandy made me feel extremely comfortable. She explained the whole process to me and the experience was wonderful.
Sugaring consists of a hand-applied paste that is made of sugar, citric acid, and water - that’s it! So it’s Certified Organic & Fair Trade! There are no burns, rawness, or ingrown hairs to worry about. The results also last longer than waxing because every single follicle is removed by the root. The pain level is less than waxing, for sure. Now that I’ve been doing it for a few months, the pain level has decreased significantly and I’ve noticed less & less regrowth.
Their Services Menu includes eyebrows, several bikini options, legs, lip, underarms, etc. Men are also welcomed! Click here to see the the full services menu.
Jessica recently expanded her growing business to the Chippewa Square location and I couldn’t be happier for her! As soon as you enter the light pink door, you instantly feel pretty. When you get to the top of the staircase you waltz in to a glamorously decorated salon with nods to vintage Barbie everywhere. The view from the salon is incredible but the best part about the recent expansion is all of the great merchandise that is now available.
Southern Sugaring carries Essie nail polish (which I can’t resist), Quay sunglasses,Spanx, Hanky Panky underwear, gorgeous Cosabella lingerie, & jewelry just to name a few. You can’t get Quay sunnies anywhere else in Savannah. Back in November I was having a wardrobe issue and was in quick need of nipple covers…. Jessica had me covered & even reached out to me after my event to see if I was pleased with the product.
On January 21st-22nd Jessica is launching a new line of luxury swimwear! There will be mimosas, private shopping VIP swag bags and sugaring discounts available. There will also be two Pure Barre classes. A portion of the swimwear sales will benefit the White Helmets, a search-and-rescue force helping the Aleppo victims. Click here to check out the event details.
I took some photos on my last visit that I’d love to share with you! For more information on Southern Sugaring - visit their website. You can also find them on Facebook & Instagram. Cheers to making 2017 more fabulous and hair-less! :-)
