How To Kick Monday's Ass In Five Steps

Happy Monday! All too familiar is the {formerly} dreaded Monday morning. I used to wake up in such a negative space about the new week, and would count down the days & hours until the next weekend. Now when I wake up on a Monday, I see it as a fresh, new opportunity for growth and evolvement. For the past year or so I've been focusing on implementing small steps in my daily routines that are especially helpful for a successful Monday. I'm going to share 5 of them with you below. What kind of things are you doing to stay motivated on a Monday? What are some small steps you can take to make Monday's better? Let me know! Here's to a successful af Monday. 

1. Select a Motto - I like to start my week off with an inspiration quote or idea that I translate into my motto for the week. I write it down on my nice notebook paper and place it in the front of my planner. I find myself going back to it daily to refocus my energy on my goals for the week. This week the motto I chose was from TheChampagneDiet on Snapchat. It's really sentences that Cara told her followers to focus on this week - "Am I listening to my intuition? Am I in flow? An I in my zone of genius?" Cara also mentioned making each day count, instead of living in routines. I LOVED this. Seriously obsessed with Cara and all of her awesome web content and her books. 

2. Pick A Focus Word - Usually I pick a focus word that is related to the motto I've chosen for the week. A focus word can be easier to remember and repeat to yourself throughout the day. This week my focus word is "Thoughts." I'm paying more attention to my thoughts and how I can focus on creating positive thoughts and energy when I'm feeling stressed or negative. 

3. Schedule A Task or Goal - Take some time Monday morning to select a task or goal that you would like to accomplish this week and write it in your planner. This week I want to make sure I workout at least 3 times during the week. I worked out as soon as I got home from the office today. Now I just need to get in a workout 2 more times by Friday to achieve this goal! 

4. Find Inspiration - Buy a beautiful fashion or interior design magazine, buy a new book, listen to a podcast or audiobook. I enjoy perusing Harper's Bazaar, Who What Wear, or listening to podcasts to get motivation. 

5. Buy Some Wine! - If all else fails - get some decent wine from Publix and take a hot, relaxing bath with candles and a chill playlist. Think about what you can do differently tomorrow to wake up in a better state of mind.
